Uluslararası Radyo Bilimi Birliği 1919 yılında Fransa’da kurulmuştur ve Uluslararası Bilim Konseyi’ne bağlı 26 uluslararası bilimsel birlikten biridir. URSI’ye ülkemiz 1993 yılında üye olmuştur. URSI-TR kongresi ise 2002’den beri iki senede bir düzenlenmektedir.
