Okie taxpayers are at risk of having to return almost $30 million in questionable expenses allocated by Gov Kevin Stitt & Superintendent Ryan Walters.

The private school (Stay in School) voucher program funded with federal pandemic relief dollars selected schools for preferential treatment & awarded funds to families not facing financial hardship — then ran out of funds that could have been used by families in need.

Example: Auditors found 5 private schools were given early access to apply before the program went live. One school received $6,000 per student and the others collected the full amount of $6,500 per student, even though the program was supposed to pay families’ actual tuition costs and some of those schools don’t charge tuition. 

Auditors found $29.3 million didn’t align with the program’s purpose.

Demonstrators were allowed to protest inside and did so peacefully, while state troopers were standing by. Like many state capitols, Oklahoma’s is open to the public.

No officers were assaulted, no windows were shattered, and the speech was given.

Sep ‘20: Stitt appoints his bud Ryan Walters as Sec of Edu. He & Stitt are in charge of those funds.

Jul ‘21: Stitt appoints his bud John O’Connor as AG.
