i think what really pisses me off about midnight the most is that at least before the sidequests had cool stories that made up for the MSQ being largely slop (not you blue dragon questline, my beloved) but it really seems to be lacking in favor of making 80% of the world fluff
don't think anything great has ever been written with the central idea being "it's what everybody wants the most" - wow has had some questionable writing interspersed throughout its history pretty much always but at least it used to have a cohesive vision of the narrative once
No hate for any dev and please no harassment, but this response to being told most people loved Zul'jan is strange to me π like was there a majority that wanted him dead? Because where would you even get this data??
and it feels like that has been withering away recently (at least the last decade or more) in favor of writing and rewriting story basically on the spot and balking at making any actually interesting or inspired choices - nothing happens and simultaneously everything gets fucked
@Khorgnir call me sentimental or whatever but i dont think writing the story based on "data" (however accurate it may be) is ever a good thing - at best it's a vague deflection to defend shitty writing and at worst it means that the story is being written for the lowest common denominator
genuinely thought I dreamed this movie up cause I had intense fevers when I first saw it and didn't think it was real for basically my entirely adult life until a friend randomly talked about it a couple years back
Spending trillions to build out AI data centers proves that the American ruling class had the resources and ability to convert the grid to renewables and maybe save the planet but instead deliberately chose to cook us all and die for no reason but to produce demonic digital slop.
Sony is ending the production of physical discs in January 2028, meaning that any game released after that will be exclusively digital.
Also they're shutting down the PS3 and Vita Store.

So these are actually map iconography called the Rhumbline network or Rhumb Lines. They form navigational paths by showing where open space connects to open space in known waters. The FF14 map having them is a really nice touch.
It has somehow taken me this long to realize that some people only play RPGs for the power fantasy and not to actually immerse themselves in the setting with a character that's apart of a story
