I agree with your opinion because some students can be more fixated on being perfect in athletics and forget about their academics, which is also essential for them to have a successful life.
I believe that just like the HWCU universities that have adequate resources to cater to their students needs to have good performances in their academics and field, the HBCU needs to have similar opportunities to improve the student's performance #ucr150@ElissaMMonteiro
@yulissaanavarro@ElissaMMonteiro#ucr150 I agree with you on this because the student-athletes do not really benefit from their skills, while the NCAA and universities can use the athlete's image and likeness to generate money, which is unfair.
@ElissaMMonteiro#ucr150 I believe the NCAA should pay their athletes and allow them to use their image and likeness because the one-year scholarship, to me, seems like payment and is not enough.

@eandr011@ElissaMMonteiro#ucr150 I agree with you, Andrade. It is unfortunate that the NCAA creates unfair policies that hinder the students from accomplishing their personal and academic goals. Some students can even study what they do not want because of these NCAA rules.
I think schools should stop enrolling students based on their sports abilities because it can lead to corruption as some students get chances that they do not deserve. @ElissaMMonteiro#ucr150

@eandr011@ElissaMMonteiro#ucr150 I think these guidelines are crucial to help the students with concussions recover quickly to return to the field. When the coaches do not follow them, they are risking the lives and well-being of college athletes in the future.
#ucr150@ElissaMMonteiro
Head concussions among athletes, especially those who play football, are inevitable. They need to be adequately compensated because the effects can undermine their well-being in the future. Seems the NCAA cares about the issue.

@eandr011@ElissaMMonteiro#ucr150. I agree that men's sports still continue to receive adequate funding compared to women's sports, while they all should have equal chances to showcase their skills and talents. Women's sports are seen as amateur, and I think that reforms in Title IX is necessary.
#ucr150@ElissaMMonteiro I do not understand why female college athletes still struggle with gender discrimination in the field, while they have talents and abilities as male college athletes. If Title IX was not enacted, what would be their situations?
@eandr011@ElissaMMonteiro It is quite unfortunate that the current NCAA rules limit college athletes from enhancing their brand, while they spend so much time in the field to ensure that their team is successful. Obviously, their future is uncertain with the NCAA rules.
#ucr150@ElissaMMonteiro
College athletes well being is important. It is unfair for the NCAA to cancel the one-year scholarships based on aspects like injury or lack of contribution to the team's success. They deserve compensation for their efforts.
@LesliePeralta0@ElissaMMonteiro Hello Peralta,
I think that the NCAA should be equated to a cartel because they do not care about the interests of the college athletes, based on the unfair policies they have that deter these students from earning from their talents. #ucr150
#ucr150@ElissaMMonteiro
It is so unfortunate that even after California signed the Fair Pay to Play Act, NCAA still wants to control the athlete endorsement rules. How can athletes be protected from this monopoly power?

@VGarnsey18 @ElissaMMonteiro#ucr150 Hello Vanessa,
The article was quite informative, and I agree with a statement from Baker, who I presumed is an athlete, that they are not NCAA property. They deserve compensation for their efforts and also the right to express their challenges openly without fear.
@KierstenMehl @ElissaMMonteiro I believe that college athletes should be compensated for their labor, just like other employees. The fact that they are students does not guarantee institutions to take advantage of their talents for financial gain.
@ElissaMMonteiro#ucr150 College athletes have the right to complain about the issues they encounter to ensure their physical and mental well-being remains intact. By sharing their challenges, it can help ensure that athletes from future generations practice self-advocacy.
