Hong Kong Colour Revolution 2019: They Paid the Students, Then Called It “Research”

I have lived in China since 1995 and I was in Hong Kong throughout 2019, so I did not need a think-tank briefing to understand what was unfolding in front of me: it was never a spontaneous student democracy movement, but a colour-revolution operation that took genuine local grievances, flooded them with foreign money and training, and then pushed the city toward chaos in the hope of smashing One Country Two Systems and turning Hong Kong into a dagger against the mainland.

Kit Klarenberg had pulled something out of an academic journal that Western media still treat as if it never existed.

Western researchers randomly selected 849 University of Hong Kong students and incentivized them around the July 1 marches in 2017 and 2018.
Students were paid not, they insist, “directly for protesting,” but for showing up and uploading crowd-size data, with an extra bonus of HK$350.
The study found that money plus social networks produced sustained turnout.
The same team had already been running related experiments on Hong Kong students for years, with NBER and other Western funding links.
When the campus sieges exploded in late 2019, the university ethics board asked the authors to remove references to IRB approval because the work had gone beyond what was authorized.

They present this as social science. Anyone who watched the Hong Kong colour revolution of 2019 with their own eyes recognizes field-testing.

I saw the white-shirt coordinators directing the crowd, I saw foreigners connected to embassies and the usual NED/CIA orbit giving instructions, and I saw how a protest that began with a specific legal dispute was hijacked, funded, trained and escalated until petrol bombs, barricades and arrows became the daily language of “democracy.” Klarenberg’s article is not conspiracy theory; it is an academic paper the Empire forgot to hide.

Read it, then ask yourself why every colour revolution follows the same script.
