I recently came across data on who we spend our time with over the course of our lives.
The insights are simultaneously inspiring and depressing.
Here are 6 graphs everyone needs to see:
@AndiEatinger@beth102c@jkssutton_jks@NickpettitNKC@LongMkl8 LETRS is based on the science of how kids learn to read and spell. It gives teachers the skills to help all students. I wouldn’t say it’s phonics heavy. It begins there. I just started year two and this first unit is all vocabulary and morphology. I absolutely love it!
@AndiEatinger@beth102c@jkssutton_jks@NickpettitNKC@LongMkl8 As teachers who have taught children to read, we know the complexities of the process to help kids be true readers. I agree with many parts of the blog. I just didn’t like the way he lumped LETRS training in there. It is by far the best PD I’ve ever had as an educator.
In lieu of an “icebreaker” to launch the new school year..think about having each grade or team in your building have time to share, put their accomplishments together, share them with colleagues, students, parents and the community. Would celebrate teacher voice !
It's #TeacherAppreciationWeek and we are doing DAILY GIVEAWAYS! We asked & YOU told us you wanted fluency activities- so we are giving away 5⃣ of our K-2 Fluency Slide Bundles!

#Teachers with few behavior issues have the following in common:

3. Talks w kids before/after class.
4. Asks lots of questions.
5. Don’t need the last word.

Education is not teacher centered or even student centered, but it is relationship centered. Teachers thrive w/ positive admin relationships & students thrive w/ positive teacher relationships. Relationships drive education.
Thank you @gregtangmath for today’s adding within 100 lesson. I heard 2 really encouraging things from my students during the lesson. “Man, I thought this was going to be hard. This is easy.” and “Can we use our white boards as math tools? This will make the snake so easy!”
@gregtangmath My first graders love your lessons! What are the chances of offering the videos later? We are late start and our day doesn’t begin until 9:15am(CST)😩
I got tons of them. Not random like the ones I see all over. Careful progression of key skills that build from K thru middle school so kids – with steady, strategic, systematic, sensible practice over long period of time – can solve hard problems mentally & without guess & check!
