I find it interesting that nobody ever models their own financials as they would a business. At least I never hear about this.
You Inc.
You have your topline "gross" revenue, then "net sales" after income tax.
Then your COGS... the expenses required for you to generate those sales... like your commute, your clothes, maintaining your social and professional networks (i.e. memberships, dues), etc.
Then your fixed overhead costs.. your house, personal vehicles, insurance, property tax, etc.
Then you have your actual real "earnings."
the setback isn’t what breaks you
it’s how you explain it to yourself
“this always happens, ruins everything, i’m the problem”
vs
“this will pass, just this one thing, circumstances were off”
explanatory style is a habit & you can rewire it
Most reach out only when they need something.
The ones who actually build something reach out when they need nothing.
They give first. No ask. No angle.
Everything else follows from there.
@Will_Schryver Do you ever think, for example, that 49% is just a purposefully specific number in hopes of receiving credibility? Why isn’t there a 48% chance? 50%?
Doomerism at all time peaks right now. I login here and just immediately see how f’ed I am because I’ll be in the permanent underclass if I don’t start selling e-books or something 😂 some of y’all need to remember to touch some grass
@Will_Schryver How much of this is just because residential services are more fragmented / easier to roll up though? Commercial services revenue quality & cyclicality > residential services
@Will_Schryver Sounds like they’ve already paid for some 3rd party diligence streams so would say there is still hope. They are likely trying to organize funding but obviously don’t necessarily want to convey “hey we don’t have the money yet”
There's honestly no excuse to make mistakes at your day job now.
Can literally put any ppt, pdf, or excel file into your firm's AI plug-in (Gemini, Co-Pilot, ChatGPT - doesn't really matter) and with the right prompt it'll at the very least bring attention to anything off
