So excited to announce that this big review written with @LaurenG1ll@jess_kennedy98 and @box_isaiah from @ZoologyUBC on an exciting group of freeze tolerance organisms is now out! https://t.co/aDun0WPzwS 1/n
I was pretty excited to see a herp in my google trending today until I saw why it was trending. Should have known it wouldn't be trending for a good reason, ruined my day. #BengalMonitorLizard
My first publication! Done with @BenMatthewsUBC and @ke_marshall. We used molecular data to show that intertidal habitats select for ice-binding proteins in invertebrates. It's open access in the latest special issue of @J_Exp_Biol so check it out! https://t.co/Cj3K4KaqLs
Yay excited to put my *first* manuscript out into the world with @ke_marshall and @jess_kennedy98! We found that when mussels go through freeze thaw cycles (like they do in nature) they repair themselves to help recover from freeze damage!❄️❄️❄️
With @ke_marshall and @BenMatthewsUBC I picked up a new project when COVID kicked us out of the lab, here's a look at how that went. I've done a lot of work with/on physical animals so it's funny seeing the first thing I submit being computational. https://t.co/kN3M13uqqW
When grown in tiny strands, ice can bend and then snap back into its original shape. These microfibres are the most flexible form of ice ever made.

@AcademicChatter I'm a zoology master's student at UBC. I'm researching freeze tolerance in intertidal invertebrates and am planning to wrap up within the year.
I have an interest in all animals, but as a hobby I especially like to look for reptiles and amphibians!
