While I disagree with your overall view on the subject, I do believe that federal lands should be open to homesteading by those without the means of purchasing who are capable of doing so properly in 1/4-1/2 acre lots. Anything federal means it is owned and maintained by the government. We have a government of, by, and for the people. That means the people own it.
Where I always get jammed up on this subject is that I believe the same is true of those who entered the capital on January 6. If they caused damage or injury to people who were not trying to keep them out, they deserve to be charged, tried, and jailed. But no one should ever be allowed to keep you out of property that belongs to you.
The United States invested in Intel. They do not have any board membership or controlling rights whatsoever, as was made perfectly clear in the agreement. An agreement mind you that expanded their operation, increased jobs, and also increased the security of the semiconductor industry within the United States.
Trump himself, that worthless little shit, didn’t take anything from it himself other than a little clout and maybe some bragging rights.
Why do we need a “global market share”? Why do we give a shit what other countries produce? Why do we give a shit if they buy ours? That goes far beyond an incentive to earn money or produce goods and service for our citizenry and goes into gaining unnecessary “wealth” which will beat down others and eventually cause a revolt. No way around that, unless you willingly start spreading money around, or use corrupt measures to buy those with influence to quell the angst.
THAT requires things like outside investment leading to a focus on the value to the investor over the employee or the consumer. THAT leads to marketplaces filled with useless shit that take up space and pack landfills, destroys natural habitats and upsets basic NATURAL food chains.
THAT is greed.
It’s obvious that all involved here are in some way indoctrinated, whether by the rich or the poor, the smart, the dumb, the wise or the foolish. We all have ideas that come from lived experiences and the data we have taken in.
The issues arise when we believe IN things so fully that we won’t accept new data or allow it to modify our thinking even when we have no viable or logical way of rebutting it under our CURRENT view on the issue.
If you are stuck, just fucking say so, but don’t blame others of failings that you yourself hold.
@SerenadingVoid@JohnRad15 Our markets however are most certainly NOT free of state intervention. They are in fact shot though with far too much of it. Pure capitalism, free of governmental interference and regulation would solve most of the crying over it.
I’m not a socialist, communist or anyone else who thinks the worker should be able to have ownership, but you can still strive for wealth without destroying the people OR the economy OR the companies.
Don’t allow companies to “go public”, outlaw mergers and stop wasteful regulation and government interference. Simple, fair competition will right the ship faster than anything else possibly can.
@Heccles94 I’ve said it before and I’ll never stop saying it. The term “shareholder value” is one of the three most destructive things in the world today.
The labor should be paid to the level of work and skill needed to perform it. The rest goes to the company to reinvest, hire, grow and market. Then more people can push more buttons and more people can earn a living.
If you feel as though you aren’t paid fairly, or like most try to claim, LEGALLY, you have recourse. If you lose and want more, learn more skills, take more chances, fight harder for yourself.
Asking the world to take an L because YOU suck at life is childish.
@GavinDinAz Yeah, people are getting sicker and sicker while physically being quite well. I have a hard time with putting down a sick DOG. I don’t get how it’s now being normalized to do it to people.
I feel like stupidity is starting to be contagious…
I worship no one. But I’m not so stupid that I think the word has anything to do with being “revered”.
If you want to bring the Bible into it, in the Bible God created his church, the Catholic Church. Are you Catholic? Because that is the only church that was offered up in the Bible as God’s church. Oh, and they have titles as well.
Worship of all kinds predates the Bible by millennia. Religious titles as well predate the Bible.
@JohnCTokalenko@JustinBerkobien@djsoulfree Okay, you need a nap. That doesn't even make sense. God created the church and worship and therefore reverends, pastors, ministers and the like.
Think. Then reply.
Our problem isn't capitalism. At ALL.
Our problem is hyper-regulation, licensing fees, permit processes, speculative investing, trade barriers that can be overran for a price, "shareholder value", fractional reserve banking and the ability to manipulate the supply through freakishly insane monetary policy done to "protect those who need it".
I'll say it again, it is NOT the governments job to protect us from OURSELVES.
In a pure capitalist market you could buy eggs from your neighbor, trade sewing for poultry from a local chicken coop, educate local children in a useful skill in exchange for beef and pork from local farmers who might also help repair your roof, and leave you with fresh butter, cheeses and raw milk. And SAVE THE MONEY YOU EARN AT WORK.
In the shit we have NOW, most of that would be illegal.
@femalebodybuil6 That's unfair. because the answer is "three times so far this year, but I'm here NOW... To be fair, it's a travel plaza and the only thing in it, but still an unfair time to ask.😆
@DoaAmerica@AStockAccount1@Bitcoin_Teddy I like the idea of personal retirements. Maybe if you got to a certain point of overall lifetime wealth you no longer qualify for Social Security and are expected to pull it from yourself? Social Security is just a tough nut to crack.
@johnkiger2@JustinStrubberg@Bitcoin_Teddy There is no such thing as a negative tax rate. They might receive more from the government and they pay in but that has nothing to do with their tax rate.
