@retrobluehill16@ElectricianDub @Hanelizaa And Dublin is a much more expensive place to run a pub. Again, there is no point comparing a bottle you buy in a shop with a pint that is served to you pricewise. They are too very different things.
@ElectricianDub@retrobluehill16 @Hanelizaa If you just want a bottle obviously just buy from a shop. If you want a premise that is heated, has music, service, etc., that's going to cost extra. It's not rocket science guys. The margin is relatively high but a whole lot of costs will come out of that bottle.
@Coldten1@adriancummins Thats irrelevant to the point I made - which was that very few restaurants / pubs wanted to close instead of trade normally. We didn't embrace anything. We had to follow the regulations, just like every other business.
@Coldten1@adriancummins To be fair Jake, the industry did not embrace lockdowns. Like every business, we had to. Can't speak for every restaurant but we would much rather have had a normal 2020 and 2021 than those two years if lockdown, even with the government supports.
@MFer_Jones_ @NotAppl66360462 @MrMatthewTodd I would not use Banks as a good standard. Remember part of the 2008 crash was banks being very loose with who got loans.
@adriancummins Darren, the hotel is just going to pass the increase on. That's how vat works. All this means is that most hospitality will have the choice in February of either charging the customer or reducing the gross sales price. If hotel rooms are still in demand, it won't make any change
Work in the restaurant industry which usually gets accused of price gouging but if we are tight on seats or low a particular dish we don't jack the price up. Hearing some insane price rises due to the airline mishaps this week.
@jconnollybooks Curse of milhaven from nick cave for a quirky intro, man comes around by Johnny cash for thematic or disintegration by the cure because its just awesome.
@vintagekitchen2@LePatissier1 I'd go one further and say there is a triple tax of employers prsi as well but that being said, it's handy for groups where no one does a whip around. Tip direct to your server where possible is of course best.
