Been thinking about the concept of job security lately and how it’s changed so drastically since I graduated in 2020
Until now I feel the metric by which people gauged job security was the performance and longevity of the company they’d be joining, which is why startups always ranked at the bottom of the list
Seeing all these crazy layoffs while companies are simultaneously seeing record profits is a clear message that there needs to be a new metric by which we measure the concept
I honestly don’t think it’ll ever again be able to be boiled down to just a few data points again and we’ll move to a way of working where job security becomes almost a non-factor when it comes to deciding where to work
I think the new metrics will be human-centric as the shift towards AI first products and remote-first work makes the human element of work that much more rare and to be desired
Measured on vibes and ability to be creative
I feel like AI has made the most difficult part of product planning what NOT to build.
With the possibility of insane features and new product initiatives at our fingertips it’s more important now that it’s been ever before to sift through all the bad initiatives and stick to the North Star ones.
I feel like the companies that succeed this new paradigm will be the ones that didn’t lose their heads feeling like they needed to chase every new release an fell victim to the feeling they were falling behind seeing all the crazy fast releases by companies of all sizes
In a time where building has never been easier and more accessible, the moat is gonna be learning how to say no

@rauchg@aisdk@haydenbleasel So if I’m understanding, this doesn’t directly integrate with the actual useChat component? This is purely a UI feature? I’m confused as to what the actual downstream benefit is
I find it very difficult to celebrate the "victories" encountered on the journey of building a company.
Whether they're small—like fixing a bug or improving user experience by 1%—or large, like hitting profitability, I always seem to find myself immediately looking to the next milestone. I tell myself I'll be satisfied with the next accomplishment, only to find myself in the same position as before.
The longer I've been doing this, and the more times I've encountered this situation, the more I've searched for a way to snap out of this cycle.
The incredible growth we have experienced at @rellasocial over the past couple months has had me reevaluate the standards I'd previously been measuring us against. In this new exciting territory, it's important more now than ever to acknowledge the accomplishments so that in a couple months I can come back and reflect on my current perspective.
Rather than looking at an old revenue milestone and comparing it with current revenue, I look back and remember thinking, "Wow, it would be awesome to be making this much." Although I'm looking at the same numbers, switching the comparison from numbers to my previous perception of those numbers has been a game-changer.
For anyone else finding it hard to acknowledge little victories, I encourage you to write down or remember the perspective you had when the previous milestone was hit and compare that to your current metrics. It's a much more fulfilling way to measure progress, and acknowledging this change in perspective has been a huge help to me.
Keep building!
