@SoundsFamiliarB I love the delicate, nostalgic instrumentation in this one. Especially appeals to the pianist in me. To me it's a song about deep longing for change.
Specific shout-out to the wonderful Jemainiacs who introduced me to some movies & a very obscure book that I'll cherish forever. (Two Little Boys by Duncan Sarkies, I'm looking at you!)
Please don't be a stranger 💚 :)
@SoundsFamiliarB @musiclovinmama1 Thematically, the disjointed ending feels to me like a reflection of the particular confusion & angst that's described in the words.
@SoundsFamiliarB @musiclovinmama1 Today I learned what a Catherine wheel is!
Wasn't a standout to me on first listen, but there's some interesting stuff happening musically in the last ~1/3 of the song. Funky acoustic line, then that distorted guitar outro... sounds like they were having fun. Macabre lyrics tho
@snug_as_duck @SoundsFamiliarB Is it weird that I went to check Liam's insta for comfort? The coincidence of Con Man releasing tomorrow is wild. I'll certainly be needing that energy. 👁️👁️
@SoundsFamiliarB@TheWeeman7 The transition from 1st verse to chorus just feels so energetic & joyous, it's an instant dopamine hit. The 2 extra beats between "You'll find out" & "Tell me I don't know..." adds some interest to an already outstanding pop song!
@Lucia_Flevares@SoundsFamiliarB That line gets me too. Living & holding out hope really do involve "risking one's neck" again & again, for the possibility that "blood dries up."
@SoundsFamiliarB Alright, a moment of vulnerability—I first heard this song during my partial hospitalization for PTSD. A scary, uncertain time in my life.
I wrote every lyric in my journal. The simple wisdom that life doesn't stay in one spot forever... Smiling as the shit comes down indeed.
@SoundsFamiliarB @snug_as_duck Have you heard the fantastic covers of The Smiths songs he's been doing with Blossoms lately? (As far as I'm concerned, they're the new lineup)
@SoundsFamiliarB I love the man. Admittedly I am of a different generation so my first exposure to him was indeed getting Rickrolled. But the Rick never stopped rollin
Have you seen what he's been up to lately? Just keeps getting better!
@SoundsFamiliarB@Leonastev Neil's cheeky attitude towards religion has always breath of fresh air for me, having been brought up as a very God-fearing christian.
What a bop. Intro guitar riff moving down into that deceptive major 3rd for a moment tells a little story in itself.
