The constitutional amendment providing for State Police, as expedient and important as it may be, has been passed in a hurry. And like many laws enacted without sufficient deliberation and safeguards, it may come with its own share of significant challenges and unintended consequences.
Hopefully, subsequent regulations, oversight mechanisms, and implementation frameworks will address any gaps and ensure that the objectives of improved security and accountability are achieved.
God bless Nigeria. 🇳🇬
They are also everywhere on social media, and successive governments have largely lacked the political will to address the issue. The truth is that many of the governments since 1999 have, by their action or inaction, been complicit in enabling the level of religious excesses, recklessness, and public disorder that we see across various religious sects today.
Another angle I'd like to consider is the apparent flaw in the FAAC law in itself.
A system that clearly stipulates how public funds should be shared, yet fails to expressly define how those funds should be utilized to enable development, is one that urgently needs review and amendment.
There is nowhere in our constitution that effectively prescribes a minimum development threshold or measurable development tied to the monthly allocations received by states and local governments. As a result, the people often relate with revenue sharing rather than development outcomes.
To me, this shows a structural flaw in our governance structure and, maybe, an aberration in our societal values. Public resources should not only be allocated; they should also be tied to clear expectations of public use and measurable development.
What brings an end to a political ideology?
The day the followers begin to think exactly like the leaders. ❌
What brings an end to political leadership?
The day the followers think below the leaders. 💯
What brings an end to a system of governance?
The day the masses gullibly believe they know better than their leaders. ✅
In all; government and governance only favor a selected few at any given time. The masses are merely pawns ▶️
I wish everyone who is interested in economy can listen to the interview of Bismarck Rewane on @ARISEtv right now.
He is dissecting the reforms...impact and next level....and it is looking good....
He said the ongoing power sector reform to take power distribution to 10,000 MW ..if it goes well, should add bw 3-4% to GDP Growth rate starting from 2027.....i.e total of 7% Growth.
On how to bridge existing poverty /hunger gap...he said STATE AND LOCAL GOVTS MUST BE ACCOUNTABLE and DO MUCH MORE TO DELIVER to the locals and grassroots.
Is this not what some of us have been saying? But ndi take back Aso Rock chose to maintain deaf ears !
