HMRC penalising the elderly who's not tech savvy, have never driven or travelled abroad, don't have smartphones or Internet access, and get confused speaking about finances. Im trying to help her but work too so weekend is only chance to help her out but you're shut. Poor

@HMRCcustomers, why can't the phoneline be open weekends? Mum recd letter saying her state and small private pension takes her over tax threshold. Tried to register her online but she doesn't have sufficient ID (no passport driving licence). I work so only weekend free to help

You actually spend more of your own time on the commute, so are effectively out an additional 2 hours due to commuting in rush hour traffic, adding to air pollution. I wfh for half my week and use my time efficiently, don't always take full lunch hour at home 🤷🏼‍♀️

If you work in an office you can have your home heating off during the day and don't use as much electricity, but you leave earlier in order to commute, pay for fuel, parking, wear and tear on your car
