🧵 Today — in response to @UnitedWelsh's shameful treatment of a vulnerable woman in their care — we have sent a letter to @VikkiHowells and @AndrewMorganRCT demanding that they:
1) Launch a Wales-wide investigation into UnitedWelsh's practices as a housing provider
@arisroussinos Henry Green’s ‘Living’ is a tidy little novel set in and about Birmingham. I think it’s partly explained by the fact that Birmingham’s decline happened relatively later than, say, a Manchester or Liverpool— it has not rlly been able to work out the reified ‘culture’ gimmick yet
@dai_alectic There’s a little egret that always fishes underneath the bridge on Western ave., don’t think I’d ever seen one before moving to Cardiff. Do think there’s something unique about Cardiff’s birdlife!
📰 BREAKING NEWS 📰
Cllr @huwthomas_Wales and Cllr @cathayschris came to ACORN Cardiff's 1st Warm Homes & Cost of Living Forum on Tuesday
Here's what they said 🧵
Introducing our new campaign: Warm Homes, Not Empty Ones.
ACORN Cardiff members are calling for @cardiffcouncil to:
1. Increase council tax premiums on empty homes to the legal maximum
2. Ringfence this revenue to create a Winter Fuel Support Scheme
Hence #WarmHomesNotEmptyOnes
For a G7 country to lose its primary steelmaking is a long-term strategic error by the UK Government with the Welsh Government neutered in its response. This is a big unforced error as was how we've treated other infrastructure - energy, transport, food security, health etc etc.
Not that they’re worth giving attention to these days, but funny how his opportunism is spoken about far less than Lewis , Whittome etc. There’s probs no one else in parliament who owes his career to the left as much as he does.
I’m sure your old man will be alright Rachel with his fat civil service pension, but my nan who is on blood thinners and worked for 50 years in a factory could do with it 👍
Don’t think I’ve ever seen a policy so blatantly dictated by the distorted, homogenous class experience of our political- media class. Pensioners are now being plunged into poverty because of the Oedipal outrage experienced at middle class family dinner tables
Pensioners are "more likely" to be millionaires - so why should they have a universal benefit?
@RMCunliffe on why Rachel Reeves is right to means test winter fuel payments.

‘So, surely with hardship comes ease’ after the darkness of the last few months, I look forward to this new chapter at Cardiff. I am grateful to the club and manager for giving me this opportunity and accepting me for who I am without question and the amazing players and fans 1/2
Incidentally, this is the key to what has just happened with 2 child cap - Treasury control. The vote came down to a demand that HMT regain and reinforce its autonomy over fiscal policy, its authority in government and therefore its authority over Labour… 1/n
As an aside, you don’t often see big changes to social security outside of fiscal events because decisions have to be made in the round (underpinned by fiscal forecasts). I spent long enough as an HMT civil servant to know the alternative is chaos. We’ve had quite enough of that
