Manila’s Finest stood out for technical excellence and cultural value, sweeping multiple craft awards and receiving the Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Award.
"(Raymond Red's) direction and cinematography push the story forward with a firm grasp of social realism, mixed with moody, turbulent framing and lighting choices that both convey melancholy and foretell darker times ahead."

Review of #ManilasFinest
If you do not mind a film that takes its time to say what it needs to say, you will definitely appreciate this one. One of its standout strengths is the visuals. You can genuinely see and feel old Manila in every frame, a quality that the director and cinematographer Raymond Red consistently brings to his work.

just saw Manila’s Finest. it’s about the slow corruption and decay of an institution. nothing flashy or dramatic happens, and that’s exactly why it works. the story just keeps moving, quietly, the way corruption usually does. hindi siya sumasabog. it just settles in.
check out my essay on the #MMFF entry, Manila’s Finest. Here, I reflect on imagining the possibility of good men even in corrupt institutions. @esquireph#ManilasFinestMmff https://t.co/LgqgfNtnKw
“Manila’s Finest is a gripping thriller and drama that explores humanity on the edge of change. It’s a look into our history from the points-of-view of people who were caught unaware by shifts in our society and it’s an important film to catch.”
