How is this anything other than a doom loop based on a delusional sense of the attractiveness of Japan to foreigners? Nobody skilled will be moving here for the salaries offered, and nobody who loves Japan enough to work long-term for Japanese wages will ever make enough to stay.
Japan is tightening permanent residency rules from this October.
Applicants must show income above the average Japanese household level, about 5.25 million yen a year.
However, the average foreign worker earns about 3.3 million yen a year.
A real gap worth watching.
