The Nova Scotia Teachers Union won't have a voice at an upcoming public accounts committee on school violence.
The Tory majority decided they will only hear from the deputy minister of education, despite calls from the opposition for NSTU to be involved.

Canada has had many amazing painters, but how many of you have heard of Edith Hester McDonald-Brown?
She was a trailblazer, whose created stunning art, but much of her work is lost.
Let's learn more about her!
Edith Hester Mcdonald-Brown was born on Dec. 17, 1886 in Africville, Nova Scotia.
Growing up middle-class, she worked at her mother's general store and developed an interest in painting from a young age.
One of her earliest pieces that still survives dates to when she was 12, in 1898.
After studying art in Montreal, she moved back to Africville.
Only one of her paintings, Sweet Peas, which she painted in 1911 was ever exhibited. It is now lost.
Edith died on her birthday in 1954.
Only four of her paintings survive, from the period of 1898 to 1906. Three are landscapes, one is still life. Each are painted in oil with nearly imperceptible brush strokes.
Most of her art was lost when Halifax razed Africville in the 1960s.
The story of Edith faded until an exhibit by David Woods in 1998 helped bring her back to the minds of the artworld.
