This is for coaches but specifically parents.
Try to avoid WHY questions. Why did you go for this par 5 in two, why did you use that club in that situation? The players are making what they think is the best decision at the time and trying their best. It’s very frustrating and irritating as a player especially if you’re a kid answering questions in hindsight after the round. Our brains will always remember the negatives since it’s a survival mechanism. It’s not helping to rehash every mistake. Rather ask them, what do you think you did well today? What’s the best shot of the day you remember? What can you improve on? That’s all the reflection that needs to happen day of or week of.

As a team we finished with a 4th place finish in the state tournament!! Super proud of our team. As individual I had a good 1st day shooting 75, but day 2 was struggle. Finished 21st overall but I am going to learn from this experience and get better.
