Why is Trump incapable of understanding sacrifice, like of those who received the Medal of Honor? Easy… he’s a narcissist. Incapable of empathy.
The medal of freedom benefited HIM because he gave it to a donor, and Rush Friggin Limbaugh. The Medal of Honor gets him no personal benefit.
The Lord made us for the joy of Heaven. Our life is not a meaningless journey, but a project of love. Life is a pilgrimage that leads us, day by day, to the encounter with Him and to the endless joy that He has prepared for us.
The word of God is the antidote to our fear of having to face life. In speaking to us, the Lord reminds us that we are in his heart, that we are precious in his eyes, and that he holds us in the palm of his hand.
This is the day our democracy picks itself up, brushes off the dust, and does what America always does: goes forward as a nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
the view from my office above @ebenezers grateful for those who serve our country in uniform. we face many challenges as a nation, but none of them greater than the GRACE of God. America! America! God shed His grace on Thee. Crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shing sea!
“Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world.” #teresaofavila
The political right and political left are under the sway of what @WaltBrueggemann calls the totalism of empire.
They both want you to buy fully into their vision of our common life together but as followers of Jesus we opt out of their totalism in favor of the kingdom of God.
Is it possible that we have become a disappointment to the Devil? “Devil vs. modern humans” is like “Messi vs. a 10-year-old”: too easy, boring? Is it possible that unemployment rates in hell are skyrocketing, that we live as we shouldn’t without even a need to be tempted?
“The Poor People’s Campaign does not endorse candidates, and we don’t need to. We have made our platform clear...and we will hold every elected official accountable.” @wilsonhartgrove
Nothing is “too hard” for the Lord of history. It is possible to move beyond white supremacy; it is possible to move beyond systemic injustice; it is possible to move beyond violence to neighborliness.
