@awtlawmn@RisaForParks It was close and looking at the election night returns in 2017, a lot of people (include me) thought Iβd be overtaken in the second round. Second choices broke heavily against me (like Risa) but turnout was lower and I had a larger lead in first choice votes. I made it through.
@JordanBobWayne@ban_SUVs That coffee shop is too quiet for anyone's own good. My clearest memory of that fight was her asking what my problem with her was. Me replying that she is patently dishonest with voters and her agreeing.
@Julietilsen @RisaForParks The difference between park and city maps are one reason why itβs easier for more conservative (and white) candidates to win park seats. Progressive and BIPOC community is cut into sections and stuck affluent neighborhoods. Redistricting is this year.
@RisaForParks@dbrauer He was running no matter what. He reached out to me in December/January. You ran a good campaign and outperformed the odds at every measure. You ran a more positive campaign than I would have.
@Theqwikbrownfox@chrisjohnmeyer I offered a lower, safer speed as alternative. It failed. I'm concerned about the casualty rate of a 20mph collision. Also concerned that staff said they wouldn't enforce 20mph anyway. I'd rather get it right but didn't want to stand in the way. No real change happened tonight.
@jackisanazi664@VoteMpls@MplsParkBoard True but you redraw the maps a bit and it gets somewhat better. Gravity of power on the park boar will always go to those with the luxury of time and connections. Itβs just built that way. A better map is an easy better step though.
These side by side maps show why we have the most BIPOC council members in history and one of the whitest Park Boards in history. The lines in the red circle divide significant BIPOC communities into small chunks in affluent districts. An easy fix . @VoteMpls@MplsParkBoard
@WentRogue@mrotzie @Julietilsen @13wildhare Sheβs ruthlessly intelligent. Gets enough passes from progressives. Now she has real power. Sheβll run for mayor when Jacobβs done or primary Ilhan. Says horrible things that she actually believes but her apologists come out of the woodwork. Biggest threat to progressives in MPLS
@sacrelicio@chrisjohnmeyer French, Hassan, and I have all wanted a racial impact audit of traffic stops by park police on parkways prior to a change. I think Kale is the only person who has indicated opposition. Amazed Meyer is opposed to conducting a racial impact audit on enforcement?
@chrisjohnmeyer Misleading at best. A lie at worst. French, Hassan, and I have all wanted a racial impact audit of traffic stops by park police on parkways prior to a change. I think Kale is the only person who has indicated opposition. Why are you opposed to conducting an racial impact audit?
@BreeMinneapolis Me: Are you a paid canvasser or volunteer?
Them: I canβt disclose that. Do you support Meg.
Me: Minneapolis will be well served to vote her out on Tuesday.
Them: Thank you. Paid for by Meg for Parks.
