Ever noticed the blue-gray haze in old sports photos?

That iconic look came from indoor smoking. Before bans were in place, fans smoked cigars and cigarettes inside arenas during games.

The smoke built up and mixed with harsh stadium lights, giving photos a foggy glow.

Older camera film and lighting tech also added to the effect. Today, that visual has become a nostalgic signature of sports history.
