A Nigerian mother, Mrs Iyabo Sowunmi, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle suspected ‘colos’ into a Medium Security prison, in Abeokuta, where her son, Dare Sowunmi, is reportedly being kept on death row.

The suspected psychoactive drug was allegedly concealed inside a sachet of Milo and detected during routine screening at the facility’s entrance.

The woman believed to be in her late 50s has since been handed over to the country’s drug enforcement authorities for investigation and prosecution.

Prefabricated bridge components capable of constructing at least 25 bridges have been left unused at two government facilities in the Eastern Region while many communities risk their lives crossing rivers and streams.

These bridges were acquired with a 43 million pounds loan approved by Parliament in 2020.

After several follow-ups, the Ghana Highway Authority has not explained why the bridges have been abandoned. The Ministry of Roads and Highways, that was supposed to supervise the project, has also not granted an interview request.

A little girl wandered away from home in Pawleys Island today.

Her name is Sailor Hayes.

She is 5. She is nonverbal.

She cannot call for help.

Last seen near Old Waccamaw Drive in the Hagley community, wearing a light blue one-piece bathing suit and a pink-and-white lanyard around her ankle. Blond hair. Blue eyes.

About 3 feet 6 inches tall.

Helicopters, drones, K-9s, marine patrol, and divers are searching the neighborhood and the Waccamaw River shoreline right now.

Neighbors are out looking.

They mandated that operators allow customers to roll over unused data and transfer it to other users on the same network rather than letting bonus or purchased data lapse automatically. The Ghana Immigration Service has arrested 1,055 people in an intelligence led anti trafficking operation targeting organised street begging networks in parts of Greater Accra and the Ashanti Region.

The operation, conducted on Saturday, August 29, resulted in the rescue of 662 children, alongside 248 women and 145 men, mainly West African nationals.

GIS says several Ghanaians suspected of acting as local agents for exploitative begging networks were also apprehended. A woman believed to be part of a criminal network trafficking beggars to Ghana was arrested and is in custody at the immigration headquarters.

A man who attempted to harbour some of the beggars in his container has also been arrested. He is also assisting in investigations.
