Here is a history lesson on college football conferences for some dumb people on this app:
While conferences were certainly a thing before the 1990s, many schools were still independent in football until the early 90s. This is because in the early 90s, the financial value of conference media deals (schools needed to join a conference for money), scheduling challenges, and bowl tie ins pushed most of college football to joining a conference at this time.
Here is a list of these schools:
1. Miami (Big East, 1991)
2. Penn State (Big Ten, 1990)
3. Florida State (ACC, 1992)
4. Arkansas (SEC, 1992)
5. South Carolina (SEC, 1992)
6. Syracuse (Big East, 1991)
7. Pittsburgh (Big East, 1991)
8. West Virginia (Big East, 1991)
9. Virginia Tech (Big East, 1991)
10. Boston College (Big East, 1991)
11. Rutgers (Big East, 1991)
Notre Dame on the other hand, being the biggest national brand in college football, was able to secure a separate TV deal with NBC that allowed them to maintain independence in football.
So yes, when you cry about Notre Dame not being in a conference, you really are just salty that your team cannot pull it off.
Go Irish ☘️

not saying that this team would stack up w Joe Borrow’s LSU, but I think DK’s Irish, with the best college football player I’ve ever seen (Jaylon Smith) , with a competent DC. Where do you think they stack up (with a competent DC)???
Just woke up and randomly have Hey, Soul Sister - Train stuck in my head. Haven’t heard the song in months, possibly years. The mind control that song has on the human race is truly fascinating
