Karmelo Anthony has been transferred out of the Collin County Jail and sent to a TDCJ diagnostic prison. Here is a statement from the Collin County Sheriff's Office
Mr. Anthony was transferred from the Collin County Detention Facility to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice today. The transfer began early this morning and was completed early this afternoon.
The transfer was expedited and completed in coordination with TDCJ. Due to operational and security considerations, we are unable to provide additional details regarding the transfer process.
During his time at the Collin County Detention Facility, Mr. Anthony was not housed in the general inmate population. The Collin County Sheriff's Office does not discuss inmate classification decisions, monitoring protocols, or specific security measures, as releasing that information could compromise the safety and security of inmates, staff, and facility operations.
With the lesser charge of manslaughter now on the table, jurors have another option besides murder.
Texas law defines murder as intentionally or knowingly causing someone’s death. Manslaughter requires a lower standard: recklessly causing a death.
During closing arguments, lead prosecutor Bill Wirskye told jurors:
“If you think Austin Metcalf impaled himself on Karmelo Anthony’s knife, find him guilty of manslaughter.”
A Michigan church says Windsor Township is acting in a ‘draconian manner to severely curtail or outright prohibit religious activity.’
Local officials have sought to limit the number of community events Tarrington Church can hold and how many congregants can attend its Sunday services. Residents have told local TV stations they have no problem with the church. But the lawyers for the plaintiffs say the township supervisor, who has opposed giving the church a special use permit, has a conflict of interest as she lives a few houses away from the church.

In a letter to Gov. Spanberger, Virginia Tech Board of Visitors rector John Rocovich said, "I will not resign."
"I found that call and the subsequent letter deeply offensive, legally unsupported, and wholly inconsistent with the Governor’s own publicly-stated principles..."
I was in the middle of taping on my iPhone for a social video from the White House North Lawn when we heard the shots. It sounded like dozens of gunshots. We were told to sprint to the press briefing room where we are holding now.
Interesting update: The White House just updated President Donald Trump's weekend schedule to show that he has cancelled his scheduled trip to Bedminster for Saturday and Sunday.
He will now stay in D.C. for the weekend.
Comes after POTUS announced that he will not be able to attend the wedding of his son, Donald Trump Jr., in the Bahamas this weekend.
New and on the record from a Paramount spokesperson: "Bari has the full support of Paramount and David Ellison as the editorial leader overseeing CBS News and 60 Minutes. Reports suggesting otherwise are inaccurate."

"It's a nice suit" and there was "no message" Sec. Rubio says when asked about his Nike sweatsuit attire on AF1:
“There’s no context. It’s a nice suit. I mean, I like it. It’s comfortable,” Rubio said today in an interview in Beijing with Tom Llamas of “NBC Nightly News.”
If anything, “he copied me because I had it before,” said Rubio, who appeared in the suit in a photo posted online by White House communications director Steven Cheung.
“I don’t know when he bought his. I didn’t even know that was his,” he said.
The bottom line, Rubio said, is that “it’s comfortable. I don’t know. There was no message. I didn’t even know he was taking the picture.”
Fair point on Nick Kristof discourse… setting aside debate over integrity of the reporting, if the claims in the piece are true, basic editorial judgment would result in follow-up stories on Times news side. Presumably those stories are in the works? If they’re not, why not?
Sen. Murray: "Do you seriously believe there's abortion in the water like some far-right activists are suggesting?"
Lee Zeldin: "I don't even know what you're talking about."
#BREAKING: Two people from Texas were on board the MV Hondius, according to Texas Health and Human Services.
The two passengers left the ship and returned to the U.S., before the deadly hantavirus outbreak was identified, according to DSHS.
The two report they don’t have any symptoms and didn’t have any contact with a sick person while aboard the ship. They have agreed to monitor themselves for symptoms with daily temperature checks and contact public health officials at any sign of a possible illness.
More from DSHS:
“Hantaviruses are usually spread through contact with wild rodent droppings or urine. The strain in the Hondius outbreak, Andes virus, can spread from person to person in limited circumstances. It typically requires close, prolonged contact with a person who is actively sick with the disease. It is not known to spread through casual contact such as shaking hands or being in the same room for a few minutes. There have been no documented cases where a person without symptoms spread it to someone else.”
Much interest in this canine at work. Two federal law enforcement officials tell me that working dog did not provide an "alert" signal to the handler. That specific canine is trained for explosives detection not ammunition since it's always around armed law enforcement. It's trained to move into open doors/spaces to check air flow for minute particles of explosives. The USSS officer has been interviewed by investigators.
