⚠️ Marketplace vehicle scam warning

A buyer has shared details of an alleged scam involving vehicles advertised on Facebook Marketplace.

The seller claimed he was divorcing and selling vehicles to pay his wife’s share. Buyers were directed to meet in Pinetown, but were later asked to pay a deposit before seeing the vehicle. The suspects allegedly sent a proof of payment and pressured the buyer to transfer money to another account.

Fortunately, the buyer became suspicious and did not send any money.

Motorists are urged to be cautious when purchasing vehicles online. Never pay a deposit for a vehicle you have not viewed and verified in person.
