If I had £1 for every time I've heard someone say "just stop worrying", "you've nothing to worry about" or even worse belittle someone for finally having the courage to open up and share their anxiety ...

Well this year just keeps serving up curve balls doesn't it. I think all of us have been affected in some way by 2020 & its events. I hope you and yours manage to have a safe & happy Christmas whatever you do. Take time to #relax#RESET#recharge. I'll see you in 2021. #sleep
High stress & poor sleep both contribute to greater risks for mental and physical ill health. They are linked to obesity, weight gain, anxiety, depression, type 2 diabetes and other metabolic disorders, heart disease and more. #sleep#insomnia
#sleep doesn't just affect our nighttime, it affects our waking life too. short-term #insomnia affects our mood, focus, & productivity. long-term it's been linked to heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, depression, anxiety and more.
One of my favourite quotes is "Happiness consists of getting enough sleep. Just that, nothing more" (Robert A Heinlein). I'm not sure it's entirely true (!) but it's certainly true that we need enough quality sleep for optimal #Health & optimal #brainhealth
During sleep, your body clears out cellular debris & makes necessary repairs. In the brain, this function is called the “glymphatic system” When you don’t sleep well or for long enough, less cleaning occurs, leaving you more vulnerable to rapid brain aging.

I'm a therapist and have seen an explosion in #mentalhealth problems across all ages & also in people who had no problems before. Attempted suicides may not appear in your data but they are on the increase. Long waiting lists for help even if its available. #MentalHealthMatters
@NadineDorries I work in GP practice. Every week we have notifications of patients attempting to take their own lives now. The amount of phone calls we receive daily for mental health crisis is huge. I can see such a decline in my own family, friends and colleagues frame of mind 💯
@danwootton So sorry for your loss💙I thought your article in @TheSun was spot on. I'm a #mentalhealth therapist and have seen an explosion in problems across all ages and also in people who have had no problems before. And there is little to no help available.
"If the cost of success is depression or anxiety, I don't know that it's the kind of success that you should aspire to."
