And…
Sunak should be remembered not for ‘generous’ lockdown furlough, but for deliberately DENYING it to 3.8 MILLION taxpayers who followed rules to stop work/close businesses.
He refused to change the policy choices which created ‘gaps’ in support.
He ignored campaign group @ExcludedUK who have campaigned for those taxpayers ever since.
He ignored calls from the largest APPG in parliament history & financial experts such as @MartinSLewis to resolve this.
The financial abandonment of so many citizens AND dependents forced many into life changing debt & cost homes, life savings, retirement plans, & LIVES (at least 40 have taken their own life that we KNOW OF).
@andyburnham did promise to help for a while, but he’s now gone cold on us.

Hang on. How about @andyburnham follows up on his promises to help @ExcludedUK recover from the financial abandonment in the pandemic?
Many were/are small business owners, self employed, entrepreneurs, who had paid taxes, done the right thing.
But were denied income replacement during lockdowns.
Many lost life savings, homes, businesses, retirement plans, took on life changing debt…
And sadly at LEAST 40 took their own lives.
The welfare team in ExcludedUK have save countless more thankfully.
Burnham promised to help back then, and do everything in his power.
Let’s see him live up to his word…
@darrenpjones@UKLabour@labourpress
Andy Burnham speaks of justice for those left waiting. The 3.8 million excluded taxpayers have waited over six years.
We dutifully paid in. We were deliberately left out.
Andy has always been for us. Now we need the Government to be too.
#ExcludedUK#Relentless
Andy Burnham has listened to ExcludedUK, recognised the injustice and kept our campaign visible. We won't forget.
Now help secure justice for 3.8 million excluded taxpayers still carrying debt, trauma and loss.
Bring back the hope!

Andy.
We can see you’re open to talking to people affected by the pandemic.
PLEASE follow through on your promises to @ExcludedUK & meet to discuss the ONGOING impact on many among the 3.8 million taxpayers denied income replacement by government during lockdowns.
As you know, many of us lost homes, life saving & retirement plans.
Many took on life changing debt.
And you know ‘just’ among the relatively small Facebook support group that at LEAST 40 took their own life.
Please, talk to Jennifer in the group & discuss ways we can prevent further lives being lost, & help others out of the hole the Tories left us in.

@Josh_Self_ Yes ok let talk about the pandemic @andyburnham . Was hoping you’d mention the millions- 3.8m @ExcludedUK that were deliberately excluded from any financial support. As you know & have campaigned for justice we are still waiting for a response from you as PM - silence from you?
@iqbalmohamedMP For me I’ll start with @RishiSunak who deliberately @ExcludedUK 3.8m self employed from any financial support during the pandemic. Absolutely unforgivable & caused at least 40 suicides which he was aware of but didn’t care. He shut the door - he wife did ok thought as a non dom

@TrussellUK 🚨 Years on #ExcludedUK families are going hungry with the children going without 💔. Homes, businesses & futures destroyed
🏚️40+ suicides with 3 since @UKLabour took office. #MentalHealth is at breaking point 🧠. How many more lives must be shattered before @AndyBurnham acts ⚠️
@RLong_Bailey 79 months on Rebecca, it is shameful that nothing has still been announced by @andyburnham to help the #ExcludedUK.
Many in our community are desperate, struggling, and 40+ have now taken their own lives, so please now join over 70 MPs at @MP4Stratford's vital @APPGGapsSupport
