In the 2004/05 Championship season, Tony Pulis’ Stoke City registered 17 results that ended in them scoring one goal with 16 of those games producing scorelines that ended in a 1-0, 0-0 or 0-1 scoreline.

For four months, Stoke didn’t score more than a goal. In late October 2004, Stoke played a 1-1 draw against Leicester which was the highest number of goals their fans saw in a game for four months.

The results that followed were;

1-0, 0-1, 0-1, 1-0, 0-0, 0-1, 1-0, 1-0, 1-0, 0-0, 0-1, 0-1, 0-1, 0-1, 1-0 and 1-0.

They call it The Binary Season. It didn’t end until February 2005.

After their last 1-0 game, they faced Leicester again and won 3-2.

Pulis was sacked that season as Stoke finished 12th on the log.

He was reappointed in the 2006/07 season and promoted them to the Premier League in the 2007/08 season.

The game that officially helped them clinch promotion?

A 0-0 draw against Leicester.
