@gChojnow there are tons of migrants, but they live in a parallel society, there is still much less of them with respect to locals (there are lots of russians), and since 2024 they cannot stay after work, they can't get a passport without going to war and they can't bring their families

@gChojnow there is a massive suppressed demand for democratization, while liberalism is basically morally bankrupt. the question of private property still remains in the air unsolved. there is a massive distrust of both the west and china, but russia is too small to be on its own.

@gChojnow yeltsin wasn't really interested in joining nato when clinton proposed it. putin was - but bush administration was dominated by neocons and other cold war relics. obama and trump were more open minded - but putin already became hostile.

@gChojnow nonetheless, it's kind of a hyperbole to compare russia to weimar germany. for better or worse we're simply too old and exhausted to pull a hitler. and now - even more exhausted than in the 90s. good chance that after putin we'll become isolationist for a good couple of decades.
