In high school we had a separate trade school that was used as a boogeyman for bad kids.

I was what could affectionately be called a party nerd and was sent on a bad kids field trip to see what awaited us if we stayed bad.

It was INCREDIBLE.

They had schools for electricians, stone masons, engineers, mechanics, aestheticians, chefs, etc. All hidden away!

I remember thinking: “do you really want burnouts doing electrical work?”
“why aren’t the nerds allowed in here?”

I petitioned the dean to let me use AP credit to go to school there for a semester (I wanted to get into engineering) and I remember his absolute disgust in telling me that no one should WANT to be there.

Very weird take, it would have let all of us dorks get applied practice in our abstract fields far earlier

I was about to go to the bathroom, so I pulled a tampon out of my purse. My male coworker looked at it and said, “Wait… you use tampons?” I said, “Yeah, why?” He immediately made a face and said, “Those are so gross.
