Getting into the weeds a bit more. If the service was not good (had to wait 15 minutes to order, did not answer questions, if something was cold, they took forever to take it back and bring it back, was not a generally happy or low affect person then the tip is 10%) if Service was average, tip is 15%, his service was great best you’ve ever had 20 to 25%. Now here comes the rub, are you tipping based off of the total price of the bill? This includes tax so you’re actually tipping the tax or is it the price of the meal? Also, if you were in a large group and many cases, they automatically tack on 18%. The other thing to consider is if you tip in cash, you have no clue whether they’re reporting that or not so therefore that’s an automatic benefit for the server as opposed to putting it on your credit card, which then goes into the Payroll system of the restaurant and gets reported. Under the new tax law, tips are not taxed if your overall income is below a certain amount.

(Etrade) removed E-Trade pro from their landing page. Power E*TRADE Pro TERRIBLE. For 2 years I sent feedback and had numerous calls to Etrade on the obvious bugs and lack of functionality vs Etrade Pro. Let’s find a brokerage that has something similar and I will move all of my holdings. Loyalty goes in two directions! It’s clear Morgan Stanley does not care

@money_cruncher can you please explain the optimal strategy to convert IRA to Roth for a retired person. Are the pros/cons/rules related to one of this makes sense from a breakeven perspective. Obviously this will push me into a higher tax bracket above 32% at age 70 the question is when’s the breakeven age and is it really worth it. What are the rules for beneficiaries, will this be included in my estate, etc.
