Federal bullying w/ $ threats does not open classrooms, but does open room for frustration, decreased opportunities, parent confusion, & dangerous decision-making.
Instead focus:1) extending USDA waivers for meals 2) testing waivers 3) adequate COVID $ 4) erate $/expansion 5)...
Those who never had interest in funding SEL & often referred to it as “fluff” or “only family responsibilities” are now saying it’s a primary reason for student return.
Should we anticipate future adequate funding for counselors, social workers, behaviorist, SEL PD, ... ? 🤷🏼♀️
Admin, once school plans & back up plans are in place, make sure your priority is the support & morale of your staff. There has never been a time when it is more important. It should be your main focus for the entire school year.
If there was ever a time schs needed federal support, it is now.
Students deserve an unprecedented federal investment in resources not cuts or diversion of funds.
Schools deserve a federal champion to lift our leaders, support our teachers & believe in the safety of our kids.
Our only mandate right now should be educators take care of your families first. And parents take care of your families first. There is no second point or mandate.

Dear Education, please don't over-complicate this situation. Let teachers offer some enrichment,encourage students to read, & check in on their students! Then let them take care of their own families, elderly parents, food shortages, etc. Don't make us look worse than politicians
