In Gaza, I studied at two universities and worked at a third. Professors who taught me have been killed, colleagues have been murdered, and the campuses where I studied and worked lay mostly in ruins. The entire academic system has been obliterated by Israel's bombs. Yet, here, people have the audacity to claim they are not safe because they witness student protests against their institutions' complicity in human rights violations or to simply express demands for an end to genocide. Disgusting.
I participated in a Music League for Green Day with a bunch of random people and solidified my position as "best Green Day Fan" by absolutely running away in the polls 🏆
realizing that not everyone starts their character development at 11 years old after a series of events that demanded unwavering confidence and forced an early development of maturity always gets me a little
there’s a serious issue with creeps/abusers in the scene and it’s been an issue for a LONG time!!! when do we change as a community to actually protect and uplift the vulnerable instead of some white guy who can play twinkly riffs. genuine question.
i know of SO MANY people who have had heinous experiences with bands who are now very popular, misogyny seems so prevalent in some of these spaces and it’s hard to ignore as a femme person playing music. just fucking protect each other.
“everyone has their fav venue” okay but everyone also has their ENEMY venue. im talking the fucking trenches. the venue where you walked out after a gig and SWORE you’d never go back (you definitely did go back). the venue that made you question your entire concert-going career
