21 Days to a #Mindful You [Day 18]
Meditating on Impermanence
Start by observing your breath.
Notice how each inhale and exhale is unique.
Feel the sensations around your nose, the expansion of your lungs, and the rise & fall of your abdomen. 🌬️
21 Days to a #Mindful You [Day 15]
Walking Meditation 🚶
The objective of meditation is to integrate the learning from focused sessions into other parts of our life.
Walking Meditation is the perfect bridge in between.
21 Days to a #Mindful You [Day 14]
Resolve to push your limits today as we do a longer session.
Double the time that you have been practicing for the last two weeks.
If it was 5 mins - make it 10. If it was 10, make it 20.
We will focus on two meditation aspects.
Another benefit of #Meditation:
It allows you to experience more out of life.
Attention is the currency that you create through a Meditation practice. And it carries over to other aspects of your life.
You can live more, enjoy more and achieve more with attention.
21 Days to a #Mindful You [Day 11]
🧘♂️Notice your moods and emotions.
There is an old story where a student goes to a wise master, and pleads with him - "Master, I am so unhappy, give me a solution. "
The wise man says - "You are not unhappy. You are experiencing unhappy emotions and identifying with them. Just sit in meditation and observe them."
The student does as he is told. And pretty soon, the thoughts of unhappiness fade away, as all thoughts do.
He returns and exclaims, "Master - Thank you, I am so happy now."
The Master smiles and replies, "You are not happy. You are experiencing happy emotions."
----------------------------------------
Our tendency to get identified with whatever we are feeling is the root cause of feeling miserable most of the time.
Today, as you practice - try to observe your emotions. Articulate and see them as yet another chain of thoughts.
Check if you are identifying with them. And if you are, try to take a step back into observing them.
Do they feel as powerful as they did a moment ago?
21 Days to a #Mindful You [Day 10]
Today, let's come back to the breath. But, with more Awareness.
In your usual position, close your eyes and start observing your inhale and exhale.
Pay careful attention to these three points:
1. Are you observing the breath, the moment it happens or are you waiting for it.
The feeling of waiting is just another thought, view it as such and Try to be as instantaneous in your observation as possible
2. While you are focusing on the breath, is your mind still wandering off to other thoughts.
Don't suppress them. Without dropping the anchor of breath, observe the thoughts as they float in and out.
3. Check the relation between the observer and the observed.
Where are you observing from? Remember the self-inquiry pointers from yesterday.
21 Days to a #Mindful You [Day 9]
Getting a taste of Self-inquiry
With our attention slightly more refined since last week, let's do some self-inquiry practice today
21 Days to a #Mindful You [Day 7]
On the final day of our 1st week of practice, let's change things up.
Borrowing a leaf out of Stoic practices, we will try Negative Visualisation today.
In other words, think about what could go wrong.
21 Days to a #Mindful You [Day 6]
Mental noting is a mindfulness meditation technique where we try to label experiences as they arise.
It gives the mind an additional anchor, lowers distraction and grounds you into the practice.
21 Days to a #Mindful You [Day 5]
Incorporate sounds into your practice
After focusing on the breath for the previous days, let's point our awareness towards sounds.
Close your eyes, open up your awareness and mentally note what sounds are coming to you.
21 Days to a #Mindful You [Day 2]
Today, we start our first session.
We notice our breath.
Seems simple (and is!). But here are four tips to make it easier.
I asked someone who recently completed the Ironman 70.3 one simple question:
“What did you learn from the journey?”
The result: {5} expected and unexpected insights
Let’s dive in:
We are pleased to announce that we have initiated a new project called 'Social-X' in partnership with Sahana Bhattacharya.
In this, we are helping Brands and NGOs in #communicating#social values and spreading #awareness about various #socialissues through the power of #content
