On June 12 last year, the London-bound Air India flight AI-171 crashed into the hostel complex of BJ Medical College in the Meghaninagar area moments after taking off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, killing 241 persons on board and 19 on the ground. One passenger survived.

In India, most abandoned pedigree dogs found on the streets or in shelters end up there after being used for breeding. As pet parents, we always criticize breeders. But for once, shouldn't we realize who these illegal breeding hubs are actually running for?
Breeders overbreed a single dog thousands of times just to fulfill consumer demand. They run it strictly as a business, with absolute disregard for the dogs' health or survival.
If we truly want to show sympathy toward these innocent animals, we need to take the right step. Stop buying specific breeds. If you are incredibly fond of a particular breed, look to adopt one. Alternatively, before getting a dog from any breeder, demand to see their license and thoroughly check their breeding history.

Remember, animals are not stuffed toys that we purchase from the market for our entertainment.
They are living beings.
Choose to adopt rather than purchase.
They are not products; they are lives.

This may be one of the most disturbing animal cruelty allegations to emerge from Karnataka.

According to complaints supported by photographs, videos, and eyewitness accounts, nearly 300 community dogs were allegedly rounded up and confined inside cramped iron cages at the Munnur Dumping Yard.

The dogs were reportedly denied adequate food, water, and care for several days, leaving them trapped in extreme heat, fear, dehydration, and starvation.

Today, only around 15 dogs remain visibly present.

The question that demands an answer:

❓ Where are the other 285 dogs?

Were they illegally relocated? Did they die from starvation and neglect? Were they transported elsewhere without lawful procedures?

Animal welfare volunteers allege a large-scale violation of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 and the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, 2023, which prohibit unlawful relocation of community dogs and require humane handling, feeding, treatment, sterilization, and return to their original territories.

⚖️ Applicable provisions include:

• PCA Act Section 11(1)(a) – Causing unnecessary pain and suffering to animals

• PCA Act Section 11(1)(e) – Confining animals in cages that do not permit reasonable movement

• PCA Act Section 11(1)(h) – Failure to provide sufficient food, water, and shelter

• BNS Section 325 – Cruelty to animals

• Violations of ABC Rules, 2023 regarding capture, confinement, relocation, and management of community dogs

Despite complaints and video evidence reportedly covering June 4–8, concerns have been raised regarding the lack of immediate FIR registration.

Animal welfare advocates, including @HarishK07108327, helped secure the release of the surviving dogs and continue demanding accountability.

We urge immediate intervention by:

Police Refused to file FIR.

✅ Register FIR
✅ Account for every captured dog ✅ Veterinary audit of surviving animals
✅ Investigation into alleged illegal relocation
✅ Inquiry into the role of responsible officials
✅ Prosecution under PCA Act and ABC Rules

If even one dog died from starvation inside those cages, justice is required.

If hundreds disappeared, the public deserves answers.
