George Eliot had no children. Who on earth is Elma Stuart?

When I paid my tribute to George Eliot in Highgate Cemetery, I found that other visitors had placed blue pens intermingled with the flowers and plants that adorn the grave.
What a fitting way to pay homage to the enduring power and influence of her writing!
Oh right, for those less familiar -- Mrs. Lewes (pronounced like Louis) is George Eliot's real name. She and George H. Lewes were soulmates and we have much to be grateful to him for the birthing of Middlemarch
