@DanKnightly And he’s only going to get better. I really liked his improvement last season. He’s got a good attitude and the confidence will follow too. Drysdale’s skating ability will allow him to join the rush more which the Flyers need to improve their offence.

@Raiderfrank65 @DanKnightly Very well said Frank and I agree! Therefore, close to $10M AAV for this type of player sure feels like an overpay. DB probably didn’t have much choice given the market but at least the Drysdale deal seems fair.

@DanKnightly @Raiderfrank65 Drysdale’s contract seems like a reasonable deal to me. I really liked his game last season.

Thought Z’s AAV was high but can’t say as I’m surprised. Many fans think he’s McDavid but the reality is that he’s a good player but I’m not convinced he’ll ever be a playoff horse.

@Raiderfrank65 @JameyBaskow @marcrarnone Totally agree Frank. More long term overpays will not help the Flyers chances of playoff success. To me, I don’t see Zegras being that stud playoff workhorse but I believe that Drysdale is showing signs of becoming a very good NHL defenceman. Regardless, short term deals are ok.

@ExecutiveRafe @JameyBaskow I said 6-8, obviously preferably seeing Drysdale closer to the 6 range. But with the stupidity of the way GM’s are throwing around money these days and the fact he went to arbitration, wouldn’t surprise me if he gets somewhere between 7 and 8. He’s an important Flyers piece.

@Timmy_G_Erie @JameyBaskow Not sure how much you watched last season (I see almost every game) but Drysdale won the Flyers Most Improved Player award. He had an excellent season as did Z. But Z was mostly invisible in the playoffs. I want $10M players to push the team towards playoff success, that’s all.

@PopTartBarbies @JameyBaskow Don’t get me wrong, I like Zegras too but he’s not a 10m+ player when you think playoff performers. Drysdale may be 2nd best to Sanheim now but with his strong skating ability, excellent hockey sense and blue collar working mentality, he’s is a 2nd pairing lock & maybe a 1st too

@Raiderfrank65 I have no doubt the Flyers will spend to the limit again. So far, they haven’t panicked by doing anything stupid like some dumb moves we’ve seen in the past. Let’s hope DB & company continue to work through this rebuild methodically & intelligently, ready to pounce on quality🤞

@Raiderfrank65 Yes, especially for Zegras. $8 max or he can walk as far as I’m concerned. He’s a mid pack player and definitely not going to be a playoff horse in the NHL.
