FRONT TOSS is a staple drill of professional baseball that allows hitters to get their swings right for the day... or make a slight tweak with a new feel... or improve their self awareness with this 7-ball drill that helps them identify what they are hitting and where. #STdrills
Working like a professional simply means getting something out of every single rep. Watching professionals like Rick Porcello throw in the bullpen, we can see the purpose behind and focus on every pitch he throws.
Focus. Throw. Reset. Repeat.

Working like a pro is an easy concept that amateurs struggle to get. With every rep productive, you can’t help but improve. That’s how professional hitters like Joey Votto take BP, with purpose behind every swing.
Focus. Swing. Reset. Repeat.

Spoke to a D1 baseball coach today about one of our guys. Only 3 questions
1. What are his grades like?
2. How does he act at practice?
3. What are mom and dad like?
If you don't think these things matter you are crazy!
Not a single question about baseball, data, etc. #OEB
Players: If you want to MAKE plays, then don’t miss practice, workouts, extra shots, meals, film, etc. As Navy Seals say ”Under pressure you don’t rise to the occasion. You sink to the level of your training.” You don’t fall victim to pressure. You fall victim to your preparation
Players: During practice, selfless teammates can put aside their friendship & compete against each other because they care about team success! Competition is key! Practice the way you play! It’s not personal; it’s necessary preparation. Without competition, there’s no success.
Yesterday, a high school pitcher came in to throw @ 9am before basketball practice. Later in the day, he came back in to lift.
There’s a huge difference between having time to get all your work in and making time. Those who see vast improvements, commit to getting better daily.
Players: Your coach’s job is to coach you. That means praise when you’re doing it right & correction when you’re not. Don’t get defensive, shut down or talk back. Listen to learn. Listen to understand. It’s how you get better. Accountability will help you in the game & in life.
Players: What is your identity as a player? Are you a competitor? Anybody who watches you play, even for 1 minute, should say, “Man, that kid is competing.” Competing is a prerequisite for good things to happen to you, but more importantly, it’s essential for your team’s success.

Make excuses
Don’t listen with ears & eyes
Shut down when coached
Don’t communicate
Think rules don’t apply to you
Don’t do extra work
Pout when subbed/benched
