It’s funny how we were threatened with consequences if we spoke, posted, took photos or recorded the meeting but this photo, clearly taken from the angle where KCDCC staff were sitting gets released. The rules don’t apply to everyone I guess.
Respecting the outcome of elections is a bedrock principle of our democracy, and our Democratic Party must defend that principle.
Given the clear results of the June Democratic primary in Brooklyn, the party should not change the rules in the middle of the game.
This is bigger than Brooklyn.
The chair’s attempt at an anti-democratic power grab will be deeply embarrassing for Democrats everywhere.
Refusing to accept the results of a democratic election to stay in power goes against everything the party claims to believe in.
Man, when the going gets tough, the tough just apparently gotta start cheating hahahaha wtf. Like, all this does is make her completely illegitimate and useless in the role
Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn (@AMBichotte) just announced on NY1 she's going to try to expand the BK Dems' executive committee from 42 members to 68 - a clear effort to pack the board to block reform pick @JulioPenaNY, who claims to have secured a 22-vote majority.
Are we really supposed to believe that the party which refused to codify Roe or pass any gun legislation when they had a supermajority in 2009 has suddenly woken up, and if given "one more chance" will do the right thing this time around?
THREAD. Two important and related scandals are happening in California. Each involves extreme right-wing policies being framed as “progressive” by the media and politicians. I try my best to explain briefly why this is important:
@DougSchneiderBK @dgfarley @BoltonsThoughts@MaxRose4NY@Britt4Congress Yeah, that's a description of @Britt4Congress that is relevant because she was running before the lines got redrawn and was unafraid of redistricting - and was in the fight regardless of the "odds". Appreciate you highlighting that.
For real. "Max and Trump did it" as a campaign slogan was shit in 2020. "I guess I'm stuck in this stupid district because NY10 is too full up" as a slogan in 2022 isn't exactly amazing either.
@DougSchneiderBK@BoltonsThoughts@MaxRose4NY@Britt4Congress That is Max's whole schtick, anyway. It's "his seat" according to way too many bullshit centrist weirdos. He's "getting it back". Yeah, because he lost it. Primaries are for determining who actually can rep a district and Rose's policyless empty rhetoric isn't inspiring. Useless.
This guy failed to do anything of the sort after promising same the first time around, why the fuck should we believe him now? Seems more like he's here just to be a spoiler for the progressive candidate so that centrists don't have to actually reckon with how unpopular they are.
If Democrats can't win in districts like #NY11 then we will never build the coalition we need to end gun violence, protect a woman’s right to choose, and make this country affordable.
I'm staying in this fight.
See my full statement below:👇
@BoltonsThoughts@MaxRose4NY@Britt4Congress who raised over $700k, has been in the race a year longer than Max and who didn't disappear for a week and a half just now - was deemed too progressive to get support, it seems. Max needs to stay in the race to protect us from actual change.
Yes, the police are mostly cowardly bullies who feel no need to put themselves in danger to protect their fellow citizens, but we do still need them, or who else will violently enforce the social hierarchy and protect the hoarded property of the ruling class??
@dianesavino@blas_sarah@Gothamist @todseelie @504Dems@jess_scarcella It's still up on the article - how about just apologizing for the mix up and a commitment to getting it changed?
Then again, commitment to anything except voting with Republicans and selling out your constituency is probably not worth your time. Oh well.
1 visit to the Whitehouse got these billionaires writing letters, tweeting nonsense and even making videos 😂 Keep organizing people Elon you next be afraid be very afraid the Unions are coming! ✊🏽
Today is #Nakba74. THREAD:
Today is 74 years since the violent dispossession of Palestinians from their land known as “the catastrophe.” From 1947 to 1949 hundreds of Palestinian villages were destroyed and almost a million Palestinians fled or were forcibly expelled. (1/4)
