@sivasiann that Tony Stark-Mark Zuckerberg brainrot really one shot a lot of these guys. they also think the average person is still impressed by tech in general. shit's been stagnant and ubiquitous for over a decade now
People really want to blame data centers for some reason, but this is almost all agriculture - and it's to grow water intensive crops like cotton and alfalfa, crops we don't need to grow in a desert. Cotton is why the Aral Sea disappeared!
FO NV fans who want Obsidian to just make NV 2 don't understand the conditions for how the original was made, nor do they know how the studios feel about it. Obsidian has only made ONE Bethesda style immersive sim in its history, even when they were flushed with money and
If slavery was still legal today, finance bros would be day trading people. They would use a big computer to own a guy for a single millisecond. They’d short sell an old man. We’d enslave people simply as punishment for a crime. We’d do mass incarceration. Prisons run for profit
id software is the video game equivalent of The Beatles. they didn't just basically invent and perfect the entire genre of the first-person shooter, but through their insane innovations in 3d graphics tech, they pretty much invented all of modern video games as we know them today
@gambitkisser never thought about that. my interpretation has come to be that "Deltarune" -Gaster's version of the story, ends one way, but there's maybe another version we get access to at the end that has more open endings. the sword route plays with the idea of an "original" game after all
Can I be honest about the last thursdayism thing with deltarune?
I feel as though people are ignoring that Toby has very much built up the idea that stories’ worlds don’t just stop existing outside of the direct plot
"No one actually makes the minimum wage"
You do not understand how minimum wage works. Minimum wage creates the floor and the floor was meant to be enough for people to survive. Right now companies can pay 12$ an hour and act like they're saviors, for paying so much above minimum wage. If minimum wage was at 18$ an hour companies would actually be forced to pay livable wages which by nature would increase all other wages.
no more teenagers online. go outside. no you aren’t allowed anywhere outside either. read a book. no not those books. the good book. get home from school and read your bible. quietly. no interaction outside school and church. we wouldn’t want someone indoctrinating you, would we?
True story: I was working for a transportation company and we all got called in from our shifts for a meeting that we knew would be layoffs; on the way in, one of the drivers deliberately crashed her work van.
If the gang ever finds out about the player, I can imagine that once Susie fully process it and chills out, she'll go "Well shit we need to get you a body for yourself don't we?" And then Lancer comes around with "Vessel to kick the Knight's ass" and you can make yourself a duck
Yes, because it's somehow bad to mourn the potential for goodness and beauty within someone that just chose to be a self-destructive jerk because they were in so much pain and conditioned their whole life to never feel safe and kill/hide away everything that made them beautiful.
@SOPHONTSIMP basically every fist fight where you're actually trying to incapacitate someone will just devolve into some kind of pinning to the ground/a hold, and those are pretty hard to break out of lol. once it's gotten to that stage its probably over
Eu, particularmente, gosto do que o Terry Pratchett fez em Discworld, em que ele usa os termos do jeito que existem, mas no universo a etimologia deles é completamente diferente, como por exemplo:
The United States of America were founded by wealthy slave owners and arch-Stuart reactionaries who rejected their monarch because he couldn’t prevent Parliament from taxing their colony, whose violent settler peasantry just wanted to continue murderously expanding their frontier.
They were one of the last countries to abolish slavery and didn’t become a formal democracy until the 1960s. Their advantage of being a freer and more open society was short-lived and their attempt to build anything resembling a social state crumbled. Instead of a society of mass affluence, they ended up with a barbaric carceral system of historically unprecedented proportions, a top-heavy rapaciously extractive economy, a state thoroughly captured by oligarchic interests.
The last decades have been marked by America’s centrality to nearly every damaging social, cultural and ideological trend. It continues to export its accelerating domestic psychoses to the world. It has become the ultimate destabilising hegemon, blundering around like dying ogre, ever swelling a mountain of rotting corpses.
American isn’t the cause of all ill in the world, but the increasingly nihilistic, zero-sum social culture of contemporary capitalism, that has ramified into every corner of society, is fundamentally American, and the umbilical chord is very much still attached. There is no Post-American world—but with a little luck there will be one day.
Happy 4th of July
The only functional point was to reduce regulatory friction for Musk family of companies and defang the agencies he was already in dispute with. It served those purposes well. Everything else was just the smokescreen for the gullible public who worships them.
