because it turns out Dennis has been going to Central Baptist, an historically Black church over on Wylie, where he has quickly become a beloved regular - appreciated most for his peach cobbler (that actually holds its own with the aunties') and the fact that he's willing to make house calls for some in the congregation.
more hauntingly useless #pitt hc crossposting (this one a little OOC): Dennis is indeed the Protestant/Catholic mutt very common in the rural Midwest and isn't as religiously traumatized as people think (which, like, isn't saying much because jeSUS fucking CHRIST)
He casually drops that he goes to church on Sundays, and people around him flinch little, worried Dennis is self-flagellating at a mass or trying to "pray away the gay" at an Evangelical joint.
No one pushes to ask, until an older Black woman comes in with heatstroke symptoms one afternoon and she recognizes "Denny baby!"
thinking about #slexie coded #mohabbot again: amid a short breakup, Jack is trying to be So Chill while dying inside, making corny ass limericks and calling Samira "Sam" for the first time despite both of their aversions so the nickname. (she's Mira, she will always be his Mira, but right now she's not supposed to be his anything, so.)

i wake up, i cry over spilt milk, put all of my eggs in one basket, bite off more than i can chew, jump the gun, fly off the handle and then die on that hill
Often father and daughter look down on mother (woman) together. They exchange meaningful glances when she misses a point. They agree that she is not bright as they are, cannot reason as they do. This collusion does not save the daughter from the motherβs fate.
#mohabbot flavored: The first time he hears Robby yell at Mohan can call her Slo-Mo, he burns "Superstar" and ONLY Superstar on a CD and chucks it at his face during a hand-off.
crossposting useless #pitt hcs haunting me time #4762092: Jack Abbot is neutral at best to music. like to the point that he rawdogs most car rides in silence when he drives alone. I fuck with the idea that he has some kind of rural/Appalachian upbringing, + even moreso that he was raised a grandmama's boy, so I imagine he has some nostalgic fondness for Tammy Wynette, Donna Fargo, and Dolly Parton.
He doesn't sing to it, but he does occasionally hum "Nothing Even Matters (ft. D'Angelo)" under his breath when doing sutures, and bops his head to the rhythm of "When it Hurts so Bad" when he's having a particularly rough day.
