Welcome to November, also a month of #Remembrance.🌺Tomorrow is #WearRedWednesday for Cst. Yang. Here are some ways you can view the Regimental Funeral & ceremonial procession, livestreamed online (0930-1230), or in-person in #Burnaby - full details here: https://t.co/mxYKq2iz6x
...5/5.. Now, and in the future, as the record clearly shows, Canada is a diverse, multi-ethnic and multi-lingual country. We must celebrate this diversity as part of what makes Canada great, while finding the values which unite us.
...4/5.. However, like all Canadians, they face challenges in the major centres due to the high cost of living. Furthermore, there is the adverse reaction to immigration, which is a rising tide of hate crimes.
...3/5.. As Professor Elrick from McGill University states, “Immigrants want what any Canadian-born person wants: good job opportunities for economic and social mobility – especially intergenerational mobility for their kids – and a sense of belonging in their communities."
...2/5..The majority of new immigrants came to Canada, like myself, through either the economic stream and/or provincial nominee programs designed to recruit skilled immigrants to meet local labour needs. Immigrants bring a variety of economic & social benefits to Canada.
For the first time in Canadian history, immigrants make up 23% of the population. Here in Burnaby, immigrants make up the majority of the population. This provides us with great opportunities, as well as challenges.... 1/5

Tomorrow is election day. After 34 years of the BCA, people are responding to the call for a change.
#VoteONEBurnaby has the people, and the plan to Lead the Way.
“For decades, NDP affiliated @Burnaby_CA enjoyed a stranglehold on #Burnaby, but that grip on power is now loosening…
Disenchantment with housing affordability could erode the party’s hold on power even further this election in B.C.’s 3rd largest city.”

Burnaby deserves better than what the @Burnaby_CA & @jameswangbcndp are bringing to the table.
On Saturday, October 15th, end the BCA’s 34 year stranglehold on #Burnaby City Council & @VoteOneBurnaby. 👇
MP @terrybeech, love to hear your thoughts as it relates directly to you. In last nights debate, @burnabypietro blames the liberal federal for the housing crisis in #burnaby. We clearly disagree. BCA has had majority control of city for 34 yrs. They had over 3 decades to fix it.
@burnabypietro blames the federal government in the 1980s for the housing shortage & demoviction crisis created by @Burnaby_CA.
Fact is, Burnaby has the highest cost of housing to income ratio in Metro Vancouver. It’s time for a change.

@ Edmonds station this morning with the @VoteOneBurnaby team. Rental and the lack of rental units comes up daily in our conversation with the residents of #Burnaby We at OneBurnaby have detailed plans on how we plan to resolve this. Review our policies at https://t.co/tCQfKEmyB5
For 34 years BCA has controlled our city with an outcome that is not acceptable to anyone of us by any standards. Housing affordability and rental crisis has gone from bad to worst. Its time for CHANGE. @VoteOneBurnaby policies addresses the issues our city is facing today.

The party that's had a stranglehold on Burnaby council for more than a decade tweeted today that it's read to "tackle" the housing affordability crisis.
