🇪🇬 Egypt’s coach dedicated his team’s World Cup win over Australia to the Palestinian people, after the Pharaohs advanced to the Round of 16 for the first time in their history, winning 4-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation.

“My heart and soul are with them,” coach Hossam Hassan said of Palestinians, praying that “God have mercy on their martyrs.” He added, “I dedicate this victory to the Egyptian people and to the good and generous Palestinian people.”

Journalist Nahej Hajjaj filmed Palestinians celebrating the victory. Egypt next face the winner of Argentina v Cape Verde, where Argentina currently lead 1-0 through a Lionel Messi goal after 30 minutes.
