200 Canadians killed when we helped the US with their Afghanistan venture (before they handed the country back to the Taliban). We have always been the US’ closest ally through thick and thin. Throwing away a trade deal, that Trump himself negotiated 4 four years ago, for made up reasons is a huge betrayal of our relationship. It won’t be forgotten.
@ianbremmer …and for 20 years, we told Afghan girls and women that they should go to school, go out to vote and to participate openly in politics. Now we are leaving them to people who will punish them severely for it.
@ianbremmer Pentagon had a plan to keep minimal troops there and to continue air support. Both Trump and Biden reject the plan so they could be the ones to say they pulled US troops out.
@TheStalwart I learned a great deal about it from the recent Odd Lots episodes. Thanks for focusing on this. Still like your original question- what is the benefit in the real world?
