JUST IN: Taylor Swift applies for ownership of the entire “.taylorswift” internet domain extension, allowing her to create websites ending in her own name.
The same thing was being said about Google when ChatGTP was launched.
Still waiting for WordPress to pull a similar move like Google's did in AI.
But a move just in how it marketed tough, because 43% of the internet websites owners are still using it and still find value in using it.
Is WordPress dead?
I ran a WP agency for 10 years. Sold it in 2023 when GPT-4 come out.
I said it back then: in 3 to 7 years everyone can have an agent build and manage their site, seo, customer support just by chatting to it.
"Update my hero we have a new black Friday deal"
"Create a new blog post about our product launch"
"What's our traffic on landing pages? Let's A/B test for conversions"
And it came even sooner than I expected!!!
Here's the other side of that story.
I have a friend who's selling a bundle of WP plugins.
His August sales -> never better!!!
He tells me that people still want/need a CMS, they still want their SEO plugins, they still deploy Woo (and Shopify) for stores.
And there are still millions of devs pushing for it, and building on it.
Is WP just dying a slow death?
And why is it taking so long, when it's painfully obvious that the custom AstroJS site on a VPS where agents are also monitoring, testing, helping with content, building new pages, taking to customer... is so much better!?
@ConnorShowler Today, from the comments of your post, I have just learned that 99% of people hating on WordPress have only heard about it and actually have never used it.
SEO is becoming the same as the social media algos, it's all about how prolific you are with your authentic, multi-angle and consistent product/service content without being spammy. if you can find a system that checks all these boxes (obviouslly besides reviews, good website, etc), then no one will be able to compete with you. I think we are in more "authority" driven era than anytime before
This is factually FALSE.
Google hasn’t been doing basic math since 2015.
It uses deep learning models (RankBrain, BERT, and MUM) that process natural language context (in simple words : your content => HOW MUCH AUTHENTIC & TOPICALLY RELEVANT CONTENT YOU POST), and user engagement signals (in simple words again : your retention => DO PEOPLE SPEND MORE SECONDS CONSUMING YOUR CONTENT THAN COMPETITORS').
We have been past the "only keyword counts" and "only backlinks counts" era for years now.
@asaio87@nguyend408 I also can add that extremely consistent and authentic content matters too. If you know how to be prolific without being spammy/duplicating, then you will easily be ranking higher. I'm talking both GBP and website (posts, updates, products, services, and photos...).
@vince_jos@eugZolotarenko@tibo_maker@outrank_so I'm not a robot, and guess what, I'm not an asshole too. I don't scrape my competitors clients' data WITHOUT PEOPLE CONSENT from their landing page and spam them with my product using unfair competition, unsubstantiated claims, solicitation and denigration tactics.
@vince_jos@eugZolotarenko@tibo_maker@outrank_so Did you scrape their clients data from their website landing page and spammed their emails, DMs, etc., with your product?
If yes, then they were very kind to ask you to stop directly and privately.
If no, then what did you do exactly? Be honest.
@ilyanovohatskyi@webflow@micronsio No, I think it's 'bandwidth'. They serve it as a bundle that includes security, caching, updates, backups, etc.
So, more traffic = more pages browsed = more expensive (as their pricing page says)
Bandwidth is cheap with hosting services since you deal with everything yourself
