4. As the influence of the black church has decreased in our society today, we have seen the increase influence of gangsta rap, that tends to glorifies the gangsta & thug lifestyle & promotes violence. All of these factors has contributed to the increase in senseless violence.

3.The Black Church helped shape cultural values because the church was the center of black society. 80% to 90% of black children were raised in Sunday School & Church. This helped shape you thinking & mindset. Killing someone would have been considered unacceptable behavior.

2. In the 1960s & 1970s respecting authority was a part of the cultural values. We respected parents, seniors, pastors, police, teachers, & all authorities in the community. People were allowed to correct you in public, & it was supported by your family. Authority was respected

1. The black family structure was much stronger in 1960 though many of us were poor. Only 24% of black children were born into single parent household in the 1960, compared to 74% today. Fathers, grandfathers, uncles, & positive men in the community help raise young men.

Poverty alone is not driving blk on blk violence. I was born in 1960. A lot of my friends like me grew up poor, but none of us became killers. What is different today compared to the 1960s and 1970s? Let me give you 4 major differences today then in 1960.
