Yes and many already exist, like the TTB for federal cigarette and alcohol taxes, and most states have sales tax infrastructure where they can coordinate with the federal government. When I mentioned abolishing the IRS, I’m talking about having to fill out all the forms plus the audit and enforcement mechanisms which we all love so much. That part, which is the vast majority of that organization, will go away.
@AdamLowisz@JeffBezos Terrible idea, progressive tax systems always are. Everyone needs skin in the game. The Fair Tax would be the best alternative, eliminating the federal income tax and replacing it with a consumption tax.
@railmeat@APompliano Nothing, there would be no federal income tax to collect and enforce. The other ancillary things they do could be performed by other departments. Look up the book The Fair Tax by Neal Boortz, I think he wrote two books on the subject.
@BitcoinMagazine Nobody’s talking about it because it isn’t a battle. Blackrock doesn’t own the bitcoin, its customers do. This is the epitome of an apples and oranges comparison, and it’s so tiresome.
