@ClubbingSealCub I'm still not exceptionally fond of it. By the time I get the Deflecting Hardtear in Reforged, I very much imagine I'll have enough stamina to not have to worry about guard breaks when attempting to deflect -- or I'll just be better at dodging.
@hypnyatize The ability to control your distance has always been neat due to the whip's otherwise slow attack speed. If you're too close to an enemy when you attack, you're probably just going to get hit, so it helped alleviate that while also allowing the weapon more mobility.
ERR: One of the things not easily shown in the last videos is that while FP regens passively in battle, some spells were turned into "generator spells" that exist primarily to generate FP instead of damage -- so you are less reliant on mp flasks as a mage to keep the fight on.
@hypnyatize I still haven't made too much use of them in actual combat, and I still miss the backstep and its attack, but these are definitely cool toys to play with.
Still engages the same mechanics, still possible to be punished by bad decisions -- just far more generous with damage values.
This (Casual) is the second easiest difficulty setting (easier than "Normal", and harder than "Relaxed") (All three options are easier than Vanilla).
Because the game is otherwise mostly the same, it still allows players of lower skill levels to engage with the game in a more authentic manner, or even allow for a more relaxed experience to veterans. You can change the difficulty at any grace, so you're not locked in forever.
@LurkerGg I'll still get owned by players much better than me, I'm sure -- but I've had otherwise mostly good experiences in pvp, having won more than lost so far.
Never in my life did I ever think I'd get mimic veiled! They invaded, went undetected as I was invaded by a recusant -- who we killed -- then I had to find this invader. Heh.
Not my best work, but Reforged has led to interesting pvp encounters.
One of my favourite thing about the soulsies games, especially when playing them slowly, is that I'm rewarded for looking up at the ceiling when adventuring.
