When I started in education my school had dedicated Math resource, dedicated ELA resource, dedicated reading interventionists, and we had certified SPED staff co-teaching core content classes. We have half that now, 10 years later.
The positions went away but the need didn’t.
The special education funding gap is an issue that affects all Kansas students because schools end up diverting funds away from other areas to provide these services. My budget provides more funding to special education.

When you get a haircut and the stylists recognize you and give you all their favorite moments from your haunt. Is it October yet? #halloween365#hauntlife
Finally getting some use out of some gift cards. $277 at @Lowes because owning a home means the work is never done became $67 after all the stockpiled gift card redemptions. #winning#adulting
Yesterday was kind of crappy.
While we returned to work for PD, I also spent the day making contact with multiple folks to break commitments I had made previously. Sometimes, the hustle is hard and adulting sucks.
Lucky to have a good dude who can make me laugh at the end of it.
FINALLY getting to attend @UnitedWayTopeka Board Leadership Training this year! Special thanks to my administrator who justified it as professional leave for me so my sick leave isn’t penalized. #BoardGoals

Did all the winter break errands today in my new to me car so I can enjoy the end of the break at my house. My very clean and organized house thanks to a frantic 4 day cleaning overhaul earlier in break. This might have been the perfect winter break. #lifeofateacher
